I’m pleased to announce that Bob Smith (National Geographic) will be our “guest instructor” for the fall workshop. Can Everyone Learn How to Lightpaint?

Yes …I believe any photographer from beginner to advanced level can learn how to Lightpaint. It is my personal experience that any genre’ of photography and portfolio can be enriched by learning this creative lighting technique.

Thursday October 22:  The workshop opens Thursday evening and introduces everyone to Lightpainting as the most creative and artistic style of photographic lighting. I will give a Step-by-Step presentation of how I make my Lightpaintings from small Macro subjects, to LIVE Models, to large Outdoor Landscapes with the Milky Way above.

Will Students make their own Lightpaintings?

Friday October 23:  Yes …Every student will be making their own Lightpaintings with hands-on instruction and guidance from myself, Bob, and Haley during each Lightpainting session. The faculty works very closely with each student to teach them the basics and the advance techniques of Lightpainting. This approach gives students the best preparation to continue making beautiful Lightpaintings once they return home.

Each student will be making Lightpaintings from the 3 categories of Lightpainting:

Should Students Bring Their Own Laptop?

2015 September WATR 4Image 4.  Laptop Image Review Session:

Saturday morning October 24:  Yes …The final morning session will be devoted to looking at student’s images on their laptop. While our main focus in the Review Session is to offer advice to students regarding their own Lightpaintings made in the class sessions, we also encourage everyone to include 2 additional pictures of their choice that they would like the faculty to offer instructive comments and positive learning advice.

Saturday Evening Add-On Class:  The Image Review session concludes the general workshop, but there is an Add-On class featuring an additional second Outdoor Location Lightpainting session.

The Add-On class will feature a different Outdoor Location for students to Lightpaint while receiving instruction from myself and the instructors. This Add-On class is only open for 6 students that are enrolled in the workshop and is offered at an additional fee.

I hope that many of you will join Haley, Bob and myself for this unique workshop of instruction and making beautiful Lightpaintings. The workshop is held in Loveland, Colorado and is 60 minutes from Denver International Airport (DIA). Loveland is only 30 minutes from Estes Park / Rocky Mountain National Park for those who want to stay a little longer and experience autumn in the Rockies.
