Here are answers to commonly asked questions, and a general overview of what attendees can expect to learn at the Dave Black LIGHTPAINTING Workshops.
Can Everyone Learn How to Lightpaint? …YES !
Yes …I believe any photographer at any level and genre can learn how to Lightpaint. Most attendees to the workshop are NEW to Lightpainting, and my instruction process is designed to teach any level photographer Lightpainting. It is my experience that everyone’s portfolio can be enriched by learning this creative lighting technique.
Spring and Fall workshops Thursday session: The workshop opens Thursday evening and introduces everyone to Lightpainting as the most creative and artistic style of photographic lighting. I will give a Step-by-Step presentation of how I make my Lightpaintings of small Still-Life subjects, LIVE Models, and Outdoor Landscapes with the Milky Way above.
Will everyone make their own Lightpaintings? …YES !
My Spring and Fall workshop Friday Session: Every student will be making their own Lightpaintings with hands-on instruction and guidance from myself and our instructors during each Lightpainting session. The faculty works very closely with each student to teach them the basics and the advance techniques of Lightpainting. This approach gives students the best preparation to continue making beautiful Lightpaintings once they return home.
During the Spring and Fall workshops each student will be making their own Lightpaintings from the 3 categories of Lightpainting:
Image 1. Our morning session begins with attendees making their own Lightpaintings of small Still-Life subjects with instructor guidance.
Image 2. The afternoon session will feature LIVE models of which each attendee will Lightpaint each of the models with guidance from myself and each instructor.
Image 3. The evening session features the Outdoor Landscape where we all Lightpaint outside during twilight and into the evening. Everyone attends each session and everyone makes their own Lightpaintings.
What is the cost of the Spring and Fall Workshops?
My Spring and Fall Lightpainting Workshops are 3 days and cost $650 per person. This fee does not include any transportation, meals, or lodging.
Should Attendee’s Bring Their Own Laptop?” …YES !
Image 4. Laptop Image Review Session:
My Spring and Fall workshop Saturday morning Session …The final morning session will be devoted to looking at attendees selected images on their laptop. While our main focus in the Review Session is to offer advice to students regarding their own Lightpaintings made in the class sessions, we also encourage everyone to include 2 additional pictures of any subject that they would like the instructors to offer instructive comments and positive learning advice.
What is the Add-On class and How much is the cost?
Image 5 Add-On class …a second Outdoor Lightpainting session.
My Spring and Fall workshops offer an additional Add-On class:
Saturday Evening Add-On Class: The Image Review session concludes the general workshop, but there is an Add-On class featuring an additional second Outdoor Location Lightpainting session.
The Add-On class will feature a different Outdoor Location for students to Lightpaint while receiving instruction from myself and the instructors. This Add-On class is only open the 12 students that are enrolled in the workshop and is offered at an additional fee of $250 per person.
What is the Summer 1Day Intensive on August 20th?
I have added a 1Day Intensive LIGHTPAINTING Workshop for this Summer, Saturday August 20, 2016. The 1Day Intensive features morning and afternoon sessions only … there is no outdoor evening session. The cost is $400 per person. This fee does not include transportation, meals, or lodging.
The 1Day Intensive morning session includes my Instructional Step-by-Step presentation followed by all attendees making their own Lightpaintings of the Still-Life setups with instructor guidance.
The 1Day Intensive afternoon session has attendees making their own Lightpaintings of the LIVE Models. As with all my workshops, these Lightpainting sessions have attendees making their own Lightpaintings with hands-on guidance from me and the other instructors.
